Here’s a little twist on some of our other posts and we decided to call it: 5 bad habits that are making you fat. If you’re trying to lose weight, take a moment and consider whether or not you’re guilty of any of the 5 following weight loss traps that will stop you from losing weight and feeling your best.
Skipping Breakfast: It’s hard to find the time in the mornings for breakfast, but that’s no excuse. You may be tired of hearing that it’s the most important meal of the day, but that’s simply the truth. If you want to admit defeat as far as having a complete, balanced breakfast first thing in the morning goes – that’s fine, but let’s not skip it altogether. Grab something quick if you have to, because frankly it’s better than nothing at all. Breakfast is literally breaking your fast that occurred overnight, and it gets your metabolism going, so have something!!
Eating Before Bed: When you eat before bed, your body stores more of that food. Do you know what stored food is? It’s body fat, and that’s what we’re trying to get rid of, right? Find something else to occupy those quite last few hours of the day, rather than eating. If you must have a late snack, make it something light and healthy like some vegetables.
Too Much Salt: For just one day, monitor your sodium intake and compare it to the recommended amount. You’ll be absolutely floored if this isn’t something you’ve considered before. Our diets have way too much salt in them. Look for low-sodium items in the grocery store, but take the time to compare between brands because “25% Less Sodium Than Our Regular Version” doesn’t mean that it still doesn’t have 50% more than the competition.
Over-Indulging: Perhaps you’ve fallen off the wagon (Or is it onto the wagon?) and indulged a little too much in junk food? Just stop as soon a you notice. People have a tendency to just write it off, and think, “Oh well, I’ve already messed up… May as well continue..” But all that does it makes it worse. If you can catch yourself, you’ll be that much better off.
Starting Later: Why put off what you can do right now? Sometimes in November or December, people decide to wait until January to start taking action towards their fitness goals, but in reality there’s no better time than right now. It takes a big lifestyle change, one last unhealthy meal or one more month so that you can start with the new year isn’t going to be what does it. Hard work, determination and the proper tools WILL be what does it, and you don’t have to wait for that.
